One person has died and seven others have been injured in a fire that broke out in the third floor of a hospital in southern Germany.
The affected unit of the hospital in the Bavarian town of Lindenberg had to be evacuated to avoid smoke inhalation and patients were moved to other parts of the hospital, police said in a statement.
Four of those injured sustained serious burns in the fire and one was transported to a Munich hospital via helicopter for treatment, the statement added.
Firefighters were able to douse the flames after about one hour and police are investigating what caused the fire late on Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT).
